Director Biography - Jason Taylor

My name is Jason Taylor and I was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 12, 1985. Although I was always a quiet child, I fell in love with writing by the age of nine. I wrote a stage play for my family church and even though I didn’t fully understand the production aspect, I did very well overall. Once I entered High School, I decided I wanted to be a rapper and started writing my own lyrics. Even though that profession didn’t last long, I transitioned from writing lyrics for myself to ghostwriting for other artists.

In 2010, I was given the opportunity to become an intern for BET Networks. I worked closely with the original programming department among other departments ranging from casting to postproduction. I was an assistant for the legal department during the 2010 BET Awards show and the BET Experience (2013-2014). Once my internship was over, I pursued my own freelance opportunities by becoming a photographer. As I journeyed into photography, it sparked my interest to learn more about the production of film and television. I became a Production Assistant (PA) on several indie projects until I decided to direct and film my very first documentary feature film in 2017, called Fight the Force. The film premiered in November of 2018.

As I moved forward, I created my own production company called Actknowledge Productions. I am a writer, director, producer and editor on several projects. My company is developing content as frequently as possible to help usher in a new wave of television programming and films.
