Rules in English
1. Puerto Rican and European Filmmakers are eligible to apply with short films produced during the years 2018 to 2020. Films must be fiction. The duration of each short should be no longer than 20 minutes.
2. The filmmaker (or company) that owns the rights to each short film should:
a. Upload the short film on FilmFreeway.
b. Be informed of the terms, conditions and privacy policies of FilmFreeway you will; and
c. Pay the admission quota, which will depend on your category and the date; as is established.
3. Upon submitting the short film each filmmaker (or company) accepts ownership of all the rights of the short film (including the rights to intellectual property) and therefore absolves and/or compensates the AFPR for any claims related to the exhibition of this film.
4. Upon sending in the shortfilm each filmmaker (or company) will be granting AFPR the non- exclusive rights to exhibit the shortfilm, starting the first day of the 2021. Festival, at film theaters and the online festival. Likewise, they will be granting AFPR the right to use the short film, as well as the name and images of the filmmakers involved with the shortfilm, for advertising the purposes of the competition.
5. Once this submission window closes, the Festival’s work team will select a maximum of ten short films by region (Puerto Rico and Europe) to participate in the competition, based on the quality and the requirements established in the first section. Once selected, the short film may not be taken out of competition.
6. During the competition our team will select a jury of between four or five members for the anonymous evaluation of the shorts and the selection of the best short film in both regions (Puerto Rico and Europe) in the following categories: Cinematography, Best Musical Composition, Art, Sound, Editing, Script, Directing, Best Film, Jury’s Selection and Actor and Actress. The jury will also select a winning short film as “Best Film” and will award it the sole cash prize of $1,500 to the winner of Puerto Rico and $1,000 to the winner in Europe.
7. An “Audience Award” will be selected for both regions (Puerto Rico and Europe) which will be determined by the audience vote during the exhibition of the shorts.

Reglas en Español:
1. Podrán participar en la Competencia aquellos cineastas puertorriqueños o europeos que tengan cortometrajes producidos entre el 2018 y el 2020, que sean de ficción y cuya duración máxima sea de 20 minutos.
2. El cineasta (o la compañía) que tenga los derechos de cada cortometraje deberá:
a. Subir el cortometraje en el portal de la AFPR FilmFreeway;
b. Informarse sobre los términos y condiciones y las políticas de privacidad de la plataforma que vaya a utilizar; y
c. Pagar una cuota de admisión que dependerá de su categoría y la fecha, según se establece en estas Reglas.
3. Al enviar su cortometraje, cada cineasta (o compañía) acepta que tiene todos los derechos del cortometraje (incluyendo los derechos de propiedad intelectual) y por lo tanto acepta relevar e indemnizar a la AFPR de cualquier reclamación relacionada a esta representación.
4. Al enviar su cortometraje, cada cineasta (o compañía) estará otorgándole a la AFPR el derecho no-exclusivo de exhibir el cortometraje a partir del primer día del Festival de 2021 de manera presencial y Online . Además, le estará otorgando a la AFPR el derecho de utilizar los cortometrajes, al igual que el nombre y la imagen de los cineastas involucrados en el corto, para propósitos promocionales de la Competencia.
5. Una vez se cierre el periodo de la convocatoria para la Competencia, el equipo del Festival seleccionará un máximo de 10 cortometrajes por región (Puerto Rico y Europa) para participar en la Competencia, basándose en su calidad y los requisitos establecidos en la primera sección. Una vez seleccionado, el corto no podrá ser retirado de la Competencia.
6. Durante la Competencia, el equipo del Festival seleccionará un jurado de cinco miembros para la evaluación anónima de los cortos y la selección del mejor corto en ambas regiones (Puerto Rico y Europa) en las siguientes categorías: Cinematografía, Mejor Composición Musical, Arte, Sonido, Edición, Guion, Dirección, Mejor Película, Mención del Jurado, Actor y Actriz. El jurado también seleccionará un cortometraje ganador de la “Mejor Película” y le otorgará el único premio en efectivo de $1,500 al ganador de Puerto Rico y $1,000 al ganador de Europa.
7. Además, se escogerá un “Premio de la Audiencia” para ambas regiones (Puerto Rico y Europa) a ser determinado por votación del público durante la exhibición de los Cortos.
