Director Biography - Azwan Badruzaman

Azwan is a filmmaker, actor & composer from Amherst, MA residing in Los Angeles, CA. A highly prolific creator, Azwan has produced and acted in short films, skits, commercials and music videos. As an editor Azwan has worked for the NBCU Digital Lab and is now lead video producer/editor for IndieWire.

Director Statement

It was the swine flu. I always loved films and devoured them like any kid growing up in the 90's from Tarantino to Scorsese, ya' know all the stuff that an 8 year old kid should be watching! But it was the swine flu that cemented by complete love and dedication to cinema. I got it in 2009 and was bed-ridden for a week. I started dipping my fingers into a massive collection of my roommate's DVD's, finding all sorts of goodies from Criterion collections of Orson Welles and Cassavetes to oddballs like Lynch and Cronenberg. This was a turning point for me from musician to filmmaker and somehow always trying to marry the two. I love films with energy, unapologetic truth, darkness, silliness, all the things that make life exciting and surreal. That's what I hope to do with mine. Unless of course I turn into a pig...
