Family with Benefits

Vicky, Sky, and Sepp have an unusual living situation: all three live in a tiny one-room apartment. The fact that they are still in a polyamorous relationship together does not make the situation any easier. Two voyeuristic documentary filmmakers are now trying to capture the everyday life of the three.

Director Statement

The comedy "Family with Benefits" functions as a hybrid between mockumentary and found footage. We see only the pixelated camcorder footage from the filmmakers, adopting their voyeuristic gaze on the characters. These characters are exhibited, allowing us to laugh at them and their quirks.
But gradually, the focus shifts: we witness the microphones failing, the directors arguing over how to use the material, and the roommates questioning the filming conditions. In short, the filmmaking process itself is exposed and ultimately attacked. While we initially succumb to the camera's voyeuristic gaze, we eventually recognize it as a manipulative tool capable of crossing boundaries.
But most importantly: this is a comedy. Have a laugh, it's supposed to be fun.
