Director Statement

Fading Colors explores friendship at a pivotal crossroads. As friends transition into adulthood, they often face the heart-wrenching challenge of separation—especially when one moves away for the first time. For Violet and Finn, this moment arrives as Violet heads off to college, leaving Finn behind. Their bond hangs in the balance: will it deepen or shatter? Aesthetically, I drew inspiration from the vibrant early '90s counter-culture, particularly the punk and hip-hop scenes that shaped my youth. Graffiti plays a key role, infusing the narrative with a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes, creating an electrifying backdrop for Violet and Finn's
journey. Their wardrobe reflects this era, drawing on punk, grunge, and hip-hop styles while blending in the vibrant colors of graffiti. Ultimately, I aimed to tell a story that resonates with anyone navigating the bittersweet challenge of maintaining friendships while forging their own path in life.
