Franciszek Kizinski is an emerging Polish filmmaker, driven by a genuine passion for cinema and a keen interest in the delicate textures of human relationships. He began his directing journey with short films “Piotrek et Marcel” ,“Des-illusions”, followed by “La vie en rose”, and later explored group dynamics and emotional tipping points in “4 amis” and “Fabrique d’amour”.
Alongside his directing work, he gained practical experience in technical roles (camera, grip, assistant steadicam) on professional sets like “The Zone of Interest” by Jonathan Glazer, deepening his knowledge of cinematic craft. Committed to human stories, he volunteered in the medical field in Africa during his high-school years — an experience that shaped his desire to tell realistic, meaningful narratives. His cinema is characterized by intimacy, soft lighting and meaningful silence, capturing small gestures that speak louder than words.
We all lead different lifestyles and have different experiences and memories. The one thing that brings us together, the subject we can share with everyone, the story we can talk about for hours, is love. That is why, over the centuries, through stories and popular wisdom, we have created so many ways to recognize the one and only. Most people hate wasting time, especially when it comes to romance. Yet there is a reason why love stories always end happily.... Frederick is really good at his job. His floor has a 90% success rate for the couples he matches. However, his marriage to Hélène, despite their initial happiness in white and gold, is now shrouded in gray. Their relationship is nothing exceptional. It's nothing that many of us haven't experienced. That's why, in my opinion, my generation is increasingly embracing life and deciding it through the prism of their own individual happiness. If the relationship I am in is not progressing, I am unhappy, I have to end it, close the book. Nevertheless, previous generations clung on, still cling on today, and used to sanctify their relationships, not wanting to let them go, even in the face of a hurricane.
This contrast is at the heart of the film. Faced with a marriage that is falling apart, will you move forward or get bogged down? Will you dare to change your life, say goodbye to years of habits and routines for something new? Something that can make you happy?
Unfortunately, experience shows that relationships are not zero-sum games, that they are not black and white. Frédéric and Hélène's marriage may not be happy today, but it certainly began in euphoria.
Memories or ties, these elements can prevent many of us from making decisions easily. That's the essence of this film: the question you ask yourself (the viewer): what would you do in Frédéric's place? And it's only by asking yourself this question, or even by seeing a reflection of a scene from your own life, that you can allow yourself to move forward. In my opinion, it's never too late to get off the train and look for another route....
