Faces of the Past - Behind the Doors of Patmos

Traveling back in time, this documentary features the historical photographs of Patmos through the eyes of my grandfather Theologos Patronis, born in Patmos in 1898. My vision for this documentary was to collaborate with my grandfather to bring our generational art forms of time together full circle. As a pianist and composer I also share my grandfather’s passion for photography. Combining our photos, faces of the past appear to be peering through the thresholds of the colorful old doors that grace the island, each door with its own story to tell.  The images are gently woven together through my piano version of Tyxero Asteri (K. Bhta). This song appears on my latest album “Dreams of Greece” (2024). Patmos has been a vital sea of inspiration for my soul, my spirit and my music. It has been an honor and a joy to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps, reconnect and honor his legacy.

Director Biography - George Mike Skaroulis

George Skaroulis Bio
At age five, George began playing the piano sitting on the piano bench next to his mother, a classically trained pianist, watching and listening. One day, he started playing along with her by ear, and he was hooked. Eventually George performed at talent shows in his elementary schools, and on weekends, his father took him to the piano store at the local mall. Crowds would gather around to watch, perhaps this was an early indication performing was destined to be in George’s future.

To date, George has released 19 CDs and much of his music is used by the healing arts industry including massage therapists and spas around the world, teachers, and romantics alike. George’s music is also used at the Atlanta Humane Society to help calm the pets waiting for adoption.
George's first music video was his version of the classic Misirlou. partially filmed in Patmos, Greece 2019.
In addition to music, Photography, Cooking/
Entertaining, and Pickleball are some of George's favorite pastimes.
