Experiencing Interruptions?

FRATRES

Once more, David Moss brings a painterly sensibility to the moving image; this time set to Arvo Part's masterpiece for violin and piano, FRATRES.

Moss develops FRATRES from a conceptual basis loosely guided by an interpretation of the original Latin term as “brothers”, “brethren”, or extending that idea to an intuition of the invisible bond that is our shared experience. That said, the means used to inhabit that idea are through a synthesis of the purely visual and musical.

In concert with the shifting sonic and intense emotional spaces that flow through Part's music, Moss brings us an immersive visual experience, continually unfolding and elaborating it's themes in an atmosphere illuminated from within. This is an atmosphere of awareness. Ultimately, the intent echos Part's famous statement...“the instant and eternity are struggling within us”.
