Daniel Candamil is a director, screenwriter, editor, and audiovisual filmmaker with a degree in Film and Digital Communication from Universidad Autónoma de Occidente. His work blends a poetic sensibility with a generational and cultural commitment. He has directed short films including Animal (2022), which earned over ten international selections and the Best Sound award at Cinestesia Fest 2023 (Colombia), and Momento Eterno (2024), winner of Best Environmental Filminuto at Cinestesia Fest 2024 (Colombia), with screenings in Serbia, Canada, and Sweden. These recognitions opened a path of visibility that strengthened his authorial voice and allowed him to present his work in increasingly prominent professional settings. He has also contributed to projects such as Malicia (2024), directed by Edward Gómez, which was presented at the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and won at Bogoshorts 2024. He is a member of Vorágine, a collective that promotes university cinema in Cali, and completed the diploma program in Audiovisual Production with Artificial Intelligence by Estudios Takeshima, YAWA, and Fundación Algo en Común.
His work seeks to portray the human experience through fragility, memory, and Caleño cultural identity.
As an artist, I am struck by the level of exposure Sol reaches in this song, her honesty is as impactful as it is necessary. My motivation to direct this music video comes from the need to accompany her fragility and give it a visual form that is both respectful and deeply resonant. Fragmentos De Una Tarde En Pance is a music video by Sol Menguante, a singer-songwriter from Cali, Colombia, whose work blends indie folk with Andean and traditional roots, exploring the value of letting go of the situations and internal pain that hold us back. Supported by a creation grant from the Music Video Program of Estudios Takeshima, in partnership with the Municipality of Santiago de Cali 2025, the piece follows Sol and her friends on a bicycle ride from the city to the Pance River, unfolding with an intimate, documentary tone through shared games, conversations, and a quiet moment by the fire. The visual approach relies on natural light, soft floating camera movements, and an art direction built around a yellow bicycle, everyday wardrobe, and light travel objects, all reinforcing authenticity. Filmed across three locations in Cali, the contrast between the city's noise and the river's stillness mirrors the emotional tension at the heart of the song, inviting the viewer into a space of reflection and self-discovery through a grounded, honest cinematic language deeply connected to the lived reality of a young Colombian artist.
