Director Statement

FLIGHT is an international collaboration. It began as a need (and a want) to stay connected, especially during this unprecedented year. Many of the cast and crew on this production are also au pairs working in the U.S., on temporary visas, typically for no more than two years. This was a way for us to work together on something, even if remotely, from overseas. In a year when the whole world went to online and virtual meetings, we exchanged project files via WhatsApp to produce this film. Four of us, who were in the NYC area, met to shoot the main scene in one evening, while following all industry standard COVID-19 safety guidelines, which allowed us to get one iconic glimpse of Times Square in 2020. Beyond that, this project was meant to be a poetic piece about love and loss. Overall, this project reflects talent from five continents and six countries, incorporates dialogue from seven languages, and hopefully serves as a pilot for additional stories spun off from this theme.
