Director Statement

Relationship defining talks often masquerade as discussions around seemingly smaller issues. In FEELING FLUSH, Vicki is much less confident in her budding relationship with Samantha. The imposter syndrome she feels causes her to put walls up (and be more confident peeing with walls between them).

I wanted to take the audience through Vicki's experience, diving out of her comfort zone with a roommate and into something vulnerable and open with a new partner. To do this, I kept the dialogue very platonic at the head of the film, and allowed the details of their attraction, and their budding relationship to develop over the course of the 10 minute short.

One of my favorite things about FEELING FLUSH is the 50/50 response I've gotten from people during our test screenings. Half the people side with Vicki and say "persevere the intimacy" the bathroom is not a place for couples to share. Half the people say "the benefit of intimacy is sharing everything" and side with Samantha. I'm excited for the conversations this film will start about intimacy and security in relationships.
