Eyeless in Parkway
A Megabus journey from Bradford to London. Driven by the organic feel of the charcoal and Gerrard Bell-Fife’s original music, the journey twists and snakes through desolate places taking you somewhere you might not expect.

Born in 1957 in UK,
Studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London
Working with Chris Goode & Co, Lou made iPad animations for “9” at the TRANSFORM Festival in 2012 at the Leeds Playhouse, followed by “Wanted” in 2016, and “Mirabel” at the Ovalhouse, London in 2018.
Lou’s first hand-drawn charcoal animation, Follow Me (for 154collective’s "Under The Bed") won 1st Prize at Bradford Open Exhibition in 2017.
Continues painting and drawing in her Bradford studio in West Yorkshire , and is currently working on her next animated feature.
I have always had drawing at the centre of my artistic practice but have only recently discovered hand drawn animation, Eyeless in Parkway being my 2nd charcoal drawn animation.
Eyeless in Parkway was made without much of a storyboard, just quick sketches on scraps of paper, drawn almost intentionally as throw away items ( with a fear that the magic might get lost before drawing the actual frames). Starting with long held images from a childhood holiday of the large cooling towers (now demolished) at the side of the M1 motorway outside Sheffield UK. A fascination of how we 'view' our worlds through screens and connecting recent images gathered from megabus journeys via East Midlands Parkway Railway Station (also off the M1) was as much of a plan I had. A series of drawings that led to unexpected places and an organic collaboration with the musician, Gerrard Bell- Fife
