Exploiting Even Oxygen
The era of constant development continually attempts to transform our relationship with the earth and commodify nature. To care for the territory means to preserve the life that the mountains have sheltered for years. These are the reflections of communities in the Sierra Juárez of Oaxaca, who are currently confronting the idea of carbon credits as a means to conserve forests and that are internationally offered to mitigate climate change.
Could this be a possible solution or is it just part of the problem?
Could it be that now they want to exploit even the oxygen?

What is the story of my land? Where do we come from?
With these questions, the intention was born to tell the intertwined stories of two mountainous towns; San Antonio Cuajimoloyas and Santa Catarina Lachatao. However, the narratives I found led me down a different path. The stories of our origins shifted from being nostalgic tales of the past, to making sense of our present and becoming armor to confront the threats that reach our land today.
