Marek studied directing at FAMU and film studies at UPOL. He is now preparing his feature debut Homeland and the short animation The Molepire. He co-founded the production company Films & Chips, is a member of the European Film Academy and FIPRESCI, and was selected for the Talents Nest Meeting Point Vilnius 2022 and Zurich IFF Academy 2020.
In my previous films, I've always focused on family relationships, and there isn't a more dramatic situation than when a parent has to choose between two fatal choices. In this case, it's the decision of whether to turn the son in and hope to save his life. Both choices involve having to accept as reality something that is impossible to come to terms with. And our main character has to make the decision within 10 minutes. The story is loosely inspired by real events from December 2019.
