A music video of J. Read's 2019 single "Everything." As J. Read leaves his basement, the world around him becomes increasingly otherworldly, creating a collage of iconic Newark images and tropes until his final verse at the famous Black Newark hot spot, La Rouge Lounge.

Director Statement

In this work, I wanted to create a modern collage of the abstract ideas and complex images found in J Read’s lyrics, and ground them in the environment that helped create them: Newark. My work blends 1970’s effects with modern color keying effects and rhythmic patterns to convey a lucid waking dream inside the artists’ mind.
