Every Two Weeks
As she prepares for a date with a man she met on a dating app, Gamila, who doesn’t always find herself beautiful, is confronted with her society’s indirect policing of her looks.
From her mother’s subtly critical remarks about her hair to the rather heavy-handed advice from her hairdresser about the shape of her eyebrows, Gamila heads to her date conflicted about where she fits in.
As she tries to find a place for her own voice and sense of beauty, she ultimately learns that even though societal standards will always exist, we don’t always have to bow to them.
