Director Biography - Daniel Elkin

Born in Colombia but raised in Lima, Peru, coming from a family of marketing managers and advertising majors, he moved to Manchester, UK to study Advertising and Brand Management. Re-established in Europe and with a horizon of opportunities ahead, he started writing film reviews as a freelance film critic for a London-based website called Live for Films. Although he had only made one short film before, during his International Baccalaureate higher-level film course, in 2017 for the first time, he wrote and directed his own short film, independently produced and funded, in Manchester.

Director Statement

For my second ever short film, I wanted to focus on crafting a script that was good enough to sustain a film that was entirely conversation- no action. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Woody Allen and Richard Linklater, and their treatment of the romance genre, I wrote the script for "Epilogue."

Once again funded entirely by me with less than £1,000 as a budget, I put together a team of people, most of with whom I had worked with before, and managed to create a production that made us all proud. The experience and commitment of our main actors, Damien Rowe and Jessica Paul, and the relentlessness of producer Victoria Barrera, were fundamental in the successful outcome of the short.
