The creation of "EntheoMagus" required us to ride an extremely fine edge — one that presents brand new and completely unexpected research on Joseph Smith and the foundation of Mormonism without inserting opinion on him or his religious movement. On top of that, proposing that psychedelics played a key role in the establishment of Mormonism is so wild that we had to perform extreme academic rigor to prevent the premise from being dismissed as conspiracy.

To do this, we condensed a massive and complicated history aimed to satisfy both a viewer with no previous exposure to Mormonism and an individual who spent their entire lifetime in the faith. Likewise, we introduced psychedelics in a way intended to engage experienced psychonauts and those who knew little or nothing about the topic.

As an individual born into the Latter-day Saint faction of Mormonism, I believe there can be great value in considering the life and claims of Joseph Smith. But beyond belief, I have witnessed, through personal experience, that taking a fresh look at the origins and original inspiration of his religious movement proved to be enlightening in ways I never anticipated.

I'm proud of where we landed and hope that the film opens peoples' eyes to new possibilities, considerations and respect for psychedelics. And I hope the film inspires those whose faith descends from the Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith to let their beliefs run like water through cupped hands as opposed to gripping them like a jungle vine over a chasm.

I'd like to thank my co-producer Cody Noconi for his research that led to this project and his partnership through the whole process. I'd like to also thank Alex Criddle, Bryce Blankenagel and Dr. Beckstead for their research and inspiration. Marinda Bowen, you might truly be a fairy — as a friend once suggested! And to Jeff Iding for your amazing camera and editing contributions, as well as Eldon Godick, Chad Potts and Thaddeus. You are all awesome!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
