Aubrey Scott is an animator and filmmaker from Mississippi. Scott is a recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Animation. Her experiences as a trans woman and the complicated feelings surrounding it pre-transition led to the creation and production of "Enter Your Name" (2023) with producers Giselle Estevez and Evie Shih.
Enter Your Name was born from my own tastes in media, and a desire to express an aspect of my life. I am a trans woman from a deeply conservative family, in rural Mississippi, and that one thing has shaped every aspect of how I experience and perceive the world. When I conceptualized Enter Your Name, I wanted to use it as a way to express that- the complicated feelings I had before I accepted I was trans, and the deep, mortal fear of trying to see that in the environment I was living in. The world of Enter Your Name is cold, lonely, and empty. It's covered in kudzu, an invasive vine that blankets parts of the south, and represented for me, the beautiful but suffocating nature of the place I call home. With this film I wanted to show people that trans people come from all over, and the internal struggles they have to deal with.
