Humberto Flores Jáuregui is a mexican director, post producer and editor.
He received his bachelor degree in Communication and Audiovisual Arts at ITESO. His work has been showcased around the world in festivals such as the Morelia International Film Festival, and he is currently working on his first feature-length documentary as an editor, EL SILENCIO DE MIS MANOS (2021). His first short film as director, ENTAMBADO (2020), was selected in multiple national and international film festivals.
When I was 12 years old, I read an article about a man's body that was found dead inside a plastic barrel, victim of a drug-related feud. An "entambado", the paper announced. I should have been disturbed at the graphic images, but in Mexico, violence is incredibly normalized. Even at a young age, it was the idea of being literally trapped inside a barrel, unable to escape, that really stayed with me.
Many years later, "Entambado" ended up becoming a short film about a man that fails to relate with his son. He is being tortured by a masked identity, forcing him to reflect on the consequences of his actions and the tremendous emotional impact they have on his family. I believe that, in order to truly change, we must first face ourselves; this short film tries to illustrate that feeling.
