Our film, ECHO, on the surface talks about loneliness and the marginalization to which a person may be driven, when they are different. On a deeper level though, it references all those times all of us have felt alone, cooped up in a house, discouraged by people’s hypocrisy. Ellie may think she has some kind of superpower, however all of us have faced this feeling of someone being untruthful.

Our characters live in opposite, mirrored apartments, which may be the same architecturally, however (given the setting and the use of complementary colors) the key differences in décor ultimately result in different ways of life. During the film, Ellie starts changing internally and this translates to her home.

The extensive use of split screen and repetitive shots of the two MCs, in conjunction with the score and the sound design by Anthony P (Stereo-Nova), induce feelings of isolation, stress and monotony to the audience, and an eventual relief that comes after the split screen is unified in the final scene.

Through this film we want to raise awareness about the dangers of mental exhaustion, when we deny ourselves human interaction as a means for self-preservation. We also want to celebrate the mental strength we manage to summon when the need arises to overcome obstacles.
