EXODUS

The film "EXODUS" by Thomas Sideris is the short version (30 minutes) of the feature film "THE POMEGRANATE OF NAKORNO KARABAKH" and focuses on the exit of Armenians from their ancestral homes, after the ceasefire agreement in the fall of 2020 between of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave are leaving their homes, taking with them all their possessions, the huge stones from their museums, and even digging up their dead. They don't want anything of theirs to fall into the hands of the "enemy".

Armenians transport their prefabricated houses, their slaughtered animals, their personal belongings in garbage bags on trucks. They feel betrayed and refugees in their homeland.

Director Biography - THOMAS SIDERIS

T h o m a s S i d e r i s is an investigative journalist and director.

He is working at Greek Broadcasting Corporation.

His name was in the short list for 2 years in a row (2018 and 2019) for the PRIX EUROPA PRIZE, a special EU prize for the best journalist in Europe.

He has been honored with TORCH AWARD in USA (human rights advocasy via his films, Pennsylvania, May 2021).

He has been honored with Journalists and Writers Foundation Award (New York, September 2019).

He has been honored with Athanasios Botsis Journalism Foundation Award (Athens, January 2018).

He has been honored with Albert Schweitzer International Organization Award (Vienna, September 2017).

He has been honored with more than 20 awards at film festivals around the world for his films.

He studied Political Sciences and Public Administration at the Law School of the University of Athens and specialized in the mass media.

He has a postgraduate diploma in Human and Social Geography on the subject "Human Geography, Space Development and Design" by the University of the Aegean.

He is a PhD candidate in Human and Social Geography by the Harokopio University of Athens. His research field is about the human body in space, the human “landscapes” and the fluid temporary habitable spaces and the fluid identities.

He is a member of International Academy of Social Sciences (Florida, USA).
