The film reconstructs Julian’s march into the eastern provinces and focuses on the geographical, historical, and topographical foundations of the route. The presentation follows the ancient sources, compares Roman transport pathways with modern assumptions, and corrects inherited misinterpretations. The Alps, Raetia, and the Danube form the framework of an analysis that shows how Roman spatial perception works and what consequences this has for modern interpretation.
