EXMYSTIKA Jesus, born 297 after Christus
The birth of Jesus in the year zero is under scrutiny. The film reveals the history and the ranks of his true parents within the power structure of Rome. In order to conceal his parentage, the constructed figure Jesus-Christus emerges and the date of his birth is shifted to the year zero. The correct dating refutes the idea of an Immaculate Conception.

Pierre Dietz
Short Biography
Born on 31 December 1963 in Rüsselsheim.
Pierre Dietz works as an animation designer at Hessischer Rundfunk as well as a historian and filmmaker. His work combines historical research with visual reconstruction and documentary storytelling.
His professional career begins in print production as co-owner of an offset printing company and leads through his role as an art director in an advertising agency into the media field. These stages shape his design approach, his visual precision, and his ability to structure complex content with clarity.
His later work in journalism and photography further refines his sense for composition and narrative focus.
Today, his work centres on the analysis of historical sources and their cinematic realisation through visual reconstruction, often exploring overlooked perspectives on antiquity for an international audience.

With this film, I explore how historical narratives can change when they pass through the hands of power, doctrine and institutional tradition. Since Late Antiquity, religious memory has often been shaped not only by faith, but also by political necessity, social hierarchy and the interests of those who controlled the written record.
EXMYSTIKA – Jesus, Born 297 AD does not seek to mock belief. It asks whether a familiar story may have been placed in the wrong historical frame, and whether overlooked connections in Roman power politics can offer a different reading of the birth narrative.
My aim is not provocation for its own sake, but a reconstruction of possibilities. The film invites the audience to look again at sources, dates and political motives, and to consider how much of what we call tradition may once have been strategy.
