EKLO - I
In a dystopian world ravaged by a deadly virus that has brought humanity to the brink of extinction, mythology and science intertwine. A lone warrior emerges, destined for a greater battle, as a pair of astronauts return to Earth to explore what remains. Confronting the last man alive and uncovering a lost Himalayan kingdom, they must navigate a shattered reality where survival demands facing both human and supernatural forces. Choices made in this first chapter set the stage for an epic saga that tests the limits of faith, power, and the human spirit.

Pradeep Shahi is a British–Nepali filmmaker, writer, and producer known for crafting bold, culturally rich narratives that bridge Eastern storytelling traditions with global cinematic sensibilities. All of his work to date has been independently produced, reflecting his dedication to authentic storytelling and creative control. He made his feature debut with the crowdfunded historical drama 1915: Legend of the Gurkhas, highlighting the heroism of Gurkha soldiers during World War I. His follow-up, The Last Ritual, a psychological thriller, further demonstrated his ability to merge genre storytelling with Himalayan cultural contexts. It performed well in indie film circuits and is available on Amazon Prime.
Shahi’s latest project, EKLO – Part I, is an indie science-fiction thriller set against a mythic Himalayan backdrop, marking the first installment of a planned trilogy exploring civilization, identity, and human resilience. Selected for the Cannes Producers Network, Shahi is steadily progressing as an international filmmaker, building a distinct voice by blending traditional narratives with contemporary cinematic techniques. His work continues to reflect a commitment to cultural depth, inventive storytelling, and engaging cinematic experiences for global audiences.
As a filmmaker, I am drawn to stories that exist at the intersection of culture, myth, and human emotion. Growing up between Nepal and the UK, I have always been fascinated by the richness of Eastern narratives and the challenge of presenting them in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide.
All of my work so far has been independently produced, a journey that has taught me patience, resilience, and the value of creative freedom. From my first feature, 1915: Legend of the Gurkhas, to The Last Ritual, and now EKLO – Part I, I have been exploring the boundaries of genre while staying true to cultural authenticity. Each film is a step forward, a chance to refine my voice and expand the worlds I create.
With EKLO, I aim to blend myth, science fiction, and human experience into a cinematic universe that is immersive, thought-provoking, and visually striking. My goal is to tell stories that are deeply personal yet universally relatable - films that invite viewers to experience unfamiliar worlds while reflecting on timeless human questions.
Cinema, for me, is not just entertainment - it is a way to connect, challenge, and inspire, and I am committed to crafting films that leave a lasting emotional and intellectual impression, a new voice from Nepal that express more than hardship and struggle.
