EDGE OF HOPE

In a world ravaged by a deadly pandemic, a young couple and their newborn daughter embark on a harrowing journey toward an elusive sanctuary. With the contagion driving survivors to the brink of madness, every step brings new dangers and horrors. Mere miles from their destination, a group of armed strangers emerges from the shadows, threatening their already tenuous grip on survival. As the strangers bear down, the couple must face the terrifying reality that the true danger of the outbreak is still unknown.

Director Biography - Matt Gorkis

Matt is a multi-talented actor, writer, director, and producer with extensive experience across various mediums, including television, film, and video games. He has acted in popular shows like "General Hospital," and his recent video game work includes co-starring in the 2020 remake of "Resident Evil 3" by Capcom/ZOIC Studios. Additionally, he has written, directed, and produced several independent films such as "Edge of Hope" and "3 Sharp Angles." Matt is a Kennedy Center American Collegiate Theatre Festival - Irene Ryan National Award Winner for Best Physical Performance and is known for his commitment to delivering the best performance possible in every role he undertakes.

Director Statement

EDGE OF HOPE came from an initial love for the video game series ‘The Last of Us’ and a desire to work on the upcoming HBO show. I told myself while playing the game that I would do whatever I could to get on their inevitable future projects so when HBO announced their series I immediately got to work writing a short film that could exist “in world”. Funding almost entirely out of pocket and through favors, the film took much longer than I had hoped and significantly longer than it takes HBO to make a season. Ultimately, this film was intended as a gift to Neil Druckmann and the Naughty Dog Studios team but ended up being a true passion project. Please enjoy and share!
