"LET'S ROLL
LOG LINE
Mother and Grandmother have opposing philosophies when it comes to helping Abby, who has intractable epilepsy, accept a wheelchair she doesn't want.
Lucia Ellouise Giannini plays Abby in our film. She is 20 years old and was diagnosed with Epilepsy when she was 10. She is my grand daughter and I am thrilled to amplify her voice and get the word out about the least understood or researched of all brain disorders. There is no cure for epilepsy. The other cast members and crew expressed how grateful they were to learn more about this brain disorder. I am grateful for this experience.
SYNOPSIS
Abby has intractable epilepsy. Her mother and grandmother grapple with how to keep her safe as her seizures have escalated in severity and frequency over the past decade. Nothing has worked to control them and they have tried EVERYTHING. Abby's indomitable spirit continues to overcome what ever restrictions epilepsy throws at her. Her mother wonders about Abby's reaction to a wheelchair as she struggles with her own resistance to have Abby use one to help keep her safe in public. She thinks maybe decorating it to make it look less like a wheelchair might make it more palatable. In the middle of her attempt, Abby's grandmother chimes in to help. Too many chefs in the kitchen? The two women want the very best for Abby, but they have very different tastes and opinions about what makes something look good. Abby walks in on their squabble, horrified to see a wheelchair that in her view, no matter how "beautifully" decorated will not convince her to use it. She storms off alone, pulling away from her care giver. She falls while having a seizure and ends up in Urgent Care, again. Tune in to find out what happens.

I am a writer and and actor. This film is my directorial debut. Perfect, as it is about a subject very close to my heart. My grand daughter Lucia Giannini who is in this film has Epilepsy. There is no cure. I want to shout that from roof tops and mountain tops. I want as many people to see, hear, learn and get involved as possible in finding a cure. For our nation to understanding what the disability community and their families go through on a daily basis. People with disabilities must be seen, heard, included and valued. I hope this film in some small way will help do that.
I make films about dangerous women and women in danger and work to bring attention to people who are most often over looked. Women in general and people with disabilites in particular. We are a big beautiful ecosystem. I intend to show that in both my writing and my films. Shining a light on people who find themselves in situations to be brave when they don't want to be but find the courage to do it non-the-less.
