DUSTY is an darkly comedic short film that explores the toxic side of grief. After the loss of his best friend we follow Dustin across a four day substance- fuelled, grief-induced shindig for one. Not able to accept the loss, Dusty spirals out of control going to great fucked-up lengths to keep the memory of his best friend Ashleigh alive. How? By mixing her ashes into his buzz of course!

Director Biography - Jeremy Lindsay Taylor

Jeremy Lindsay Taylor graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Drama and Sociology. Well known to Australian audiences for a variety of roles across film, television and theatre, Jeremy Lindsay Taylor has appeared in Black Comedy, Playing for Keeps (Series 1 and 2), Reef Break, Offspring, Romper Stomper, Barracuda, Deep Water, Love Child, Hyde and Seek, Gallipoli, Home & Away, Puberty Blues, Underbelly Razor, Bikie Wars: Brothers In Arms, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Serangoon Road, House Of Hancock, Something in the Air, The Secret Life of Us, McLeod’s Daughters, False Witness, Rescue Special Ops, Dance Academy, City Homicide and Sea Patrol (Series 1-3). Jeremy’s feature film credits include Riptide, Manny, Tom White, Em 4 Jay, Bad Bush, and critically acclaimed short films Second Hand and The Ravens. On stage, he has performed for the Melbourne Theatre Company, The Malthouse Theatre, and The New End Theatre, London. Jeremy has directed successful seasons of The Packer in Sydney and Los Angeles and most recently, a sell-out season of Dennis Kelly’s DNA for the Sydney Fringe Festival. Nominated for the 2012 AACTA Choice Award for his outstanding portrayal of Norman Bruhn in Underbelly: Razor, Jeremy previously received an AFI Award nomination for Best Guest or Supporting Actor in a Television Drama for his role in False Witness and was nominated for a Green Room Award for Best Featured Actor in a Theatre Production for MTC’s Take Me Out. Jeremy recently appeared in The Family Law (SBS) and starred as Dylan Sawyer in Reef Break on ABC in the USA. In 2019, Jeremy starred in Sequin in a Blue Room, which premiered at Sydney Film Festival and received the Audience Award for Best Feature Film. He recently appeared in the feature film The Dry, based on Jane Harper’s award-winning mystery novel, released in 2020. Later this year you can see Jeremy in the new Netflix series Heartbreak High, Amazon series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and in Stan Originals feature Transfusion.

Director Statement

Grief, intense sorrow, the loss of a loved one, is something every human being experiences in their lifetime. How each of us copes with it is what varies dramatically. DUSTY is a deeply personal and courageous story written by my incredibly talented dear friend, Travis Jeffrey. It’s been an absolute honour to step behind the camera for the first time with such an empowered, professional and passionate team of creatives and bring this story to life. I truly believe taking on such a universal and crucial subject matter opened the door for good Karma throughout the film making process. So, take a seat, strap yourselves into our DUSTY rollercoaster, and be prepared to be punched in the heart!
