Dry January
On a quiet escape into the wild, an explorer sets out to chase birds- but ends up running from a burden. Through winding trails, open water, and restless nights under the stars, he fills sketch after sketch with strange sightings and horrific thoughts. With only a backpack, a canoe, and a can of paint, Dry January is a raw, visually arresting ride through heartbreak and healing- where even the messiest moments leave a splash of unexpected colour.

Marz Gebhardt (she/they) is a 25 year old Canadian multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and writer whose practice combines hand-crafted clay stop-motion, music videos, short films and documentaries, and original sound. Their work centers fantastical and emotionally grounded narratives that explore queer and feminine identities and chosen forms of belonging through fantastical and intentionally handmade visual worlds. Working as a director, cinematographer, and screenwriter, Gebhardt produces visually distinctive music videos and short films that integrate tactile animation, narrative-based filmmaking, and her original sound design as central storytelling forces.
