This is a story about the shattered dreams of a young man who moved to Beijing to pursue his career. In a damp basement in Beijing, a nephew and uncle live side by side. The nephew, Xiao Ma, works hard with a dream of living in a big city.The uncle, Lao Qiao, works day and night to care for his sick son. The two live in a cramped space and take care of each other. What kind of impact will an emergency rectification announcement have on their drifting lives?Can they survive this sudden crisis?

Director Biography - Yuanhao Wang

Wang Yuanhao, born in Jilin，china. Studied at Beijing Film Academy.
His graduation project, "Drifting Alone In Beijing", was shortlisted for the Real Image Plan Venture Capital Unit of the Beijing International Film Festival.The pseudo-documentary "An experience of shooting a film in the basement" was selected for the 17th First International Film Festival.In 2023, a feature-length romantic film project he was involved in planning, "The Second Breakup," was shortlisted for the Qingdao Golden Key Project Film Investment Unit.
He devoted myself to the work of long-form films in theaters, and worked as a film planner in a film company, planning and incubating multiple long-form film projects.

The theme and plot of "Beijing Drift" are partly derived from real events and documentaries. It revolves around the life of a basement tenant, telling the story of urban drifting of the grassroots Beijing drifters."Beijing Drift" refers to a sense of drifting in Beijing, as well as the choices of the "Beijing Drifters" group.In the final presentation, it will also focus on drifting.For young people in small towns across the country, Beijing is a dream land of struggle and success. Every day, countless young people from the countryside pour into the city, but can they really win?For those who drift in Beijing, they always find it difficult to find a sense of belonging and take root.Drifting is a common feeling among all the Beijing drifters.The "Eviction Event" is an inevitable and difficult contradiction in the process of urbanization.On the one hand, old and dangerous houses endanger the safety of residents' lives and property, on the other hand, low-cost rents accommodate many Beijing drifters.With the development of the city, slums will inevitably be eliminated, but the poor will still be there.As the wheel of the times rolls by, some people are knocked down by it. This film focuses on such vulnerable groups and listens to their helplessness in this city.At the same time, the film strives to be objective and show the contradictions of all parties, trying to understand this social problem from two perspectives.Therefore, the law enforcement captain Chen Zhongliang brings out the contradictions and helplessness in urban construction."We are all people living in boxes."
