Director Statement

In this coming-of-age story, I wanted to explore the delicate intersection between internal and external worlds, and how dreams, aspirations, and insecurities collide during the transformative years of adolescence.

Shehab is a character who feels both deeply connected to the worlds he imagines and deeply estranged from the world he must face. As a director, my aim was to capture his vulnerability and his silent battle with self-doubt, especially with reaction shots in the supermarket scene. The film is less about the destination and more about the delicate, painful beauty of the journey itself.

This project is deeply personal, and I’m influenced by filmmakers like "John Hughes" and "Gus Van Sant", who capture the tender nuances of coming-of-age stories with honesty. The film is also a collaborative effort with a dedicated team who share a vision of exploring this intimate coming-of-age narrative with sincerity and depth.
