Director Statement (Natalia Ryss)
I had the opportunity to work with a rather intimate and trusting material. I appreciate the artist's courage and her uncompromising exploration, uninhibited and uncensored, yet poetic and self-irony at the same time.
My goal was to connect the viewer one-on-one with the artist and her experience through her drawings and voice.
This is also composer Yoel Or's first experience working in film. I wish him the best of luck.
Artist Statement (Natalia Rozenbaum)
I’ve been drawing these diaries for about twelve years, and many of the albums remained in my country of origin.
I came to Israel a little over three years ago, in 2022, and life kept becoming more and more dramatic — the intensity grew, and all that drama was captured in my diaries.
The film concisely portrays an inner journey through intense states of bodily and emotional reality — toward light and unconditional love.
Natalia Rozenbaum is a painter, textile artist, printmaker, sculptor, and conceptual artist whose unconventional background bridges art with thermophysics, infusing her practice with a scientific and cultural sensibility. She masterfully combines graphic expressiveness and corporeal layering across drawing, lithography, linocut, monotype, soft sculpture, and textiles, harnessing pastels, ink, and fabric as vessels for memory and archetype. Her evocative works—personal yet universal “inner maps”—explore memory, female identity, trauma, and transformation, enveloping the viewer in spaces charged with recognition, healing, and deep emotional resonance.
