Emerson Independent VideoCountry: United States
Brett Boon and Meghan Smith are students in the Visual Media Arts program at Emerson College. They both pitched "Drag Mother" to the student organization, Emerson Independent Video, who picked it up and helped back the production. "Drag Mother" won an 2019 EVVY Award for "Outstanding Intermediate Film" and was nominated for "Outstanding Advertisement".
"Drag Mother" highlights the backstage life of drag performers, who are typically portrayed as cartoonish background characters in mainstream film. Through the themes of our film, we strive to convey these characters with a more humanistic lens.
