Double Trouble
In a bustling neighborhood, various residents go about their lives: young children play soccer, elderly men gather at the local café for backgammon, young adults stand on the corner smoking, two others attempt to record a song, while a young couple shares a romantic moment. Through the interwoven events and relationships among them, we witness how their actions spiral into a state of madness.

Ahmed Essam is a filmmaker born in Alexandria. He graduated from the Alexandria-based Higher Institute of Cinema in 2023, as part of the first cohort in the directing department. Ahmed has participated in various film workshops, most recently a screenwriting development workshop for a short film organized by Film Independent. He has worked on several projects as an assistant director and production assistant, driven by his passion for learning all aspects of filmmaking.
Ahmed then transitioned to directing his own projects, with his first documentary film Out of the City receiving a special mention at the Zawya Short Film Festival and screening at multiple local and international festivals. He also co-founded Handycam Films, an independent production company aiming to explore new artistic realms and alternative production approaches outside the capital.
