Max Kutschenreuter (born in 1991 Nijmegen) is a Berlin based filmmaker. He graduated with a BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam in 2014 with 2 short films (Icarus and Exopterygota) from the department of moving image (VAV).
After which he moved to Berlin to pursue his passion in film by working on several shorter and longer projects, and both fiction and non-fiction. Some of which have run successfully on several festivals over the world.
His films generally deal with themes of sexuality, coming of age, queerness, drag, masculinity and femininity, and interpersonal relationships.
Dixie is a short fiction film set in contemporary times.
It deals with the confusing time between teenage years and adulthood from the point of view of a LGBT character. This transitional period for a gay teenager is especially confusing, as besides dealing with general coming of age problems, he is also tasked to figure out how he fits in the gay scene.
The movie deals with when the fantastical meets reality in a vision like dream, that seemingly offers perhaps more questions than answers.
