Dis-illusion
Jasmine (23) is at a protest against pension reform. As the police charge, the procession breaks up in chaos. Jasmine runs into an alley to escape the smoke bombs. She spots a café and takes refuge inside.
When Jasmine enters the café, the noise of the protest disappears almost completely. It is a quiet, dark, and intimate place. There is only one customer sitting at a table: Cedric (72), an old man hidden behind his newspaper. He is drinking a beer.
Jasmine catches her breath, walks up to the counter, and asks for a glass of water. As she drinks, she notices the old man; he looks familiar. Jasmine approaches him and realizes that it is Cedric Frett, a former activist journalist who was her idol. She strikes up a conversation, but he is not receptive. It has been a long time since he has set foot in a protest. Discouraged by years of unsuccessful struggles, Cedric is cynical and no longer believes in anything. The discussion quickly turns into a confrontation between two activists from different generations. Between hope, doubt, and resignation, there is only one step.
