Detective Brown Short Film
A weary detective reluctantly takes on a baffling new case: a string of audacious doughnut shop robberies shaking his small town. As Brown dives deeper, what seems like a simple snack theft turns into a hilarious and unexpected conspiracy—one that hits closer to home than he ever imagined. With dry wit, awkward brawls, and plenty of coffee, Brown must outsmart the culprits before the town’s sweet tooth leads to chaos.

Spencer Wimber is a filmmaker, writer, and storyteller known for blending suspense, heart, and humor into unique cinematic worlds. With a passion for faith-driven themes, sharp wit, and dynamic characters, Spencer has worked across multiple genres including drama, thriller, and comedy. His recent work on Sugarloaf showcased his ability to craft engaging narratives with memorable, larger-than-life personalities. Now, with the Detective Brown spinoff, Spencer continues to expand the Sugarloaf universe—this time with a holiday twist—bringing his long-held dream of making a Christmas action-comedy to life.
Detective Brown is a comedic, Christmas-themed action short that spins directly out of the world we built in Sugarloaf. From the beginning, I’ve been fascinated by the idea of continuing that universe—not just with sequels, but through side stories that explore different characters, tones, and creative angles, all while keeping the same shared backdrop.
This short film is my opportunity to do exactly that. Detective Brown, with his sharp wit always felt like a character who could carry his own adventure. Bringing him back in a holiday setting allowed me to mix genres in a way I’ve always wanted: blending the charm and warmth of Christmas with the energy and playfulness of action-comedy.
In many ways, this project is a creative playground—one where I can expand the Sugarloaf world, experiment with tone, and tell a self-contained story that still connects to something larger. I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas action-comedy, and this is my chance to finally do it. The result is something I’m deeply excited about: a fun, festive ride that gives audiences a fresh perspective on a familiar world.
