Director Statement

Offline raises questions about how the desires, subjectivity and self-perception of contemporary society are submissive to image creation. As a young man born in the 90s, I feel that my generation lived consequences of a transition to a hyperconnected world. When I came across some archival images from my childhood, I’ve noticed a distance when it comes to the authenticity of those unstaged and not spectacularized images. In this sense, I wanted to create a film that would bring up reflections about identity, memory, post-truth and use my own archival images to build a self-fictional narrative that would help to propose possible solutions to the anxieties I felt, and other young people must feel as well.
