Born 1980 in Germany as a daughter of a Turkish family Derya soon discovered her love to theater, musicals and art. One of her biggest hobbies was and still is watching movies especially horror and psychological thrillers. When she got 18 she switched to German citizenship and later moved to Istanbul where she got married in 2006.
While working as the assistant of a film producer in 2013 she had the chance of reading a lot of scripts and finally decided to write one herself. Ever since she keeps on writing. "Wahrnehmung" (Perception) is her first short film of which she is also the producer together with her husband.
She started her acting career when she was 8 and played in many plays ans musicals until she graduated highschool. She made a long pause after giving birth to a son and focused on her family life. When she got 41 she stepped back into acting again and played in many TV serieses, plays and a movie.
