Writer Biography - Anabel Kutay

Anabel trained originally as a classical ballet dancer and enjoyed a hugely successful career working with some of the finest dance companies in the UK including Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and The McOnie Company.

During the course of her 15 year career she was integral in devising, workshopping and developing theatre productions such as The Lorax and Jekyll & Hyde for The Old Vic and Pinocchio for The National Theatre.

Her expertise in movement, physical theatre and character development for stage heavily influences her work.

Anabel’s passion and success in The theatre industry led her to train as an actress.
She made her film debut in the American Dance film HIGH STRUNG.
A role (written specifically for her) in Paolo Sorrentino’s YOUTH soon followed.

Eager to expand on her knowledge of the film industry Anabel associate produced and starred in Bird with no legs (Aesthetica, Drama film festival) whilst learning the art of Screenwriting.

Despite her easy transition into the Film industry, Anabel soon became frustrated by the lack of interesting roles coming her way.

Anabel took inspiration from actors such as Brit Marling, Taika Waititi and Michaela Cole in beginning to nurture her own voice as a filmmaker.

Anabel made her directorial debut with DOGHOUSE in 2020.

She currently has two feature films in development.
