Director Biography - Sam Morgan

Sam Morgan is the writer/director behind many short films, as well as the upcoming feature “Death, Love, & Birthdays.” The film, his debut feature, is a passion project that marks a first-time creative transition away from short films and online content.

Throughout high school, Sam distinguished himself as a promising filmmaker and creator, taking home awards from the Austin Film Festival (Young Filmmakers Competition 2021), Atlanta High School Film Festival (Best Overall 2023 and 2024), and All American High School Film Festival (Best Vlog 2022, Best Micro-Movie 2023). He founded the YouTube channel Picture’s Up Productions in late 2020 (originally a movie review channel). However, following the success of the first Picture’s Up original film, “k.”, the channel shifted gears; today, Picture’s Up Productions is a crew of student filmmakers dedicated to sharing stories through film while also illuminating what goes on behind the camera.

Director Statement

"Death, Love, & Birthdays" is my most personal and meaningful film to date. It was written from the heart and handled with great care by the cast and crew. All of us worked tirelessly to tell a story as raw and authentic as fiction can be, relating the characters' lives to our own; we hope that you, too, will find pieces of yourself in their stories.
