Dear Izabel
Dear Izabel follows a letter written to an elderly closeted lesbian named Izabel from the ghost of her seven-year-old self- the last version of herself who experienced love without fear. This short claymation and mixed media film represents queer culture in Saskatchewan by illustrating how past generations of queer folk came of age amidst forced silence upon the prairies.

Marz Gebhardt (she/they) is a 25 year old Canadian multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and writer whose practice combines hand-crafted clay stop-motion, music videos, short films and documentaries, and original sound. Their work centers fantastical and emotionally grounded narratives that explore queer and feminine identities and chosen forms of belonging through fantastical and intentionally handmade visual worlds. Working as a director, cinematographer, and screenwriter, Gebhardt produces visually distinctive projects that integrate tactile animation, narrative-based filmmaking, and her original sound design as central storytelling forces.
