Dawit Gybresues was born in Asmara, Eritrea and has been working in the audiovisual industries since 1994. He was educated at Red Sea high school in Asmara and moved to Sweden in 1989 finished with his high school education in Karlstad and Vasteras highschool in Sweden. He went on to explore Social Studies and European literature in Mälardalens university in sweden Dawit made his first step towards the industry by studying story telling techniques at Amu Gamleby and Brunnsviks Ludvika higer media Technical School, where he gained his first experiences in lighting and camera operating, directing and editing and he was able to make his first break as a camera operator on various short films and music video’s. Dawit came to the UK in 1998 where he continued to work as a freelancer and pursued a degree in Media production with video and tv production at Bedfordshire university. He is responsible for working on many TV productions,documentaries, sports events, Corporate videos, live events and commercial’s, which has built him a strong network in the UK across seas. He has worked in countries such as Poland, Africa, Phillipines and Norway and is now fluent in four languages (Eritrean, English, Swedish & Ethiopian) and has a basic communicationskills in Arabic and Italian.Dawit holds high prospects for his origins, never forgetting the quality of life where he comes from and is currently producing documentaries which reflect the poverty issues of his own, and various other similar cultures, ‘The Costly Gift’ is currently entering the festival circuits and his most recent production ‘The Wheel of Nation’ is in post production. He is developing screenplays for narrative feature film production and just finished filming a documentary about the Bisha Mine in Eritrea
