Have you ever had an argument with your family?
I sure have. I went home for Christmas two years ago and it is a family tradition that we take a photo which we print on greeting cards and send to extended family and friends to wish good fortune in the new year. Sounds nice.
It was barbaric - people came in agitated and soon there was yelling and stomping off and then being dragged back. After an hour or so of mayhem we all agreed to at least take one picture...
Two weeks later I receive the card in the mail and my jaw drops - we look beautiful. The perfect family.
In that moment the idea for Dashing Through the Snow was born because I was amazed by how peaceful we looked when we had argued so much moments before.
Families have always fascinated me. They're sources of both immense love and suppressed loathing - infinite dramatic potential. Some of which I have explored in this shortfilm. I do hope that you might spot a character who reminds you of someone you know...
