Ira Childs and Lionel L. Chapman, famously known as The Splatter Brothers, are award-winning filmmakers from Chicago, Illinois, with a passion for storytelling that transcends genres. As a dynamic duo of directors, producers, and screenwriters, they bring a unique blend of creative vision and filmmaking expertise to the screen. While Ira thrives on the complexities of drama, Lionel finds his inspiration in the limitless possibilities of sci-fi. Despite their individual tastes, they share an unshakable belief that no genre rivals the power and artistry of horror. United by their common vision, they set out to rejuvenate the horror landscape, driven by a deep love for every facet of the filmmaking process—from concept to final cut. Together, they are committed to pushing boundaries, redefining fear, and breathing fresh life into the world of horror cinema.
The concept of "Darcy Collis" was born out of my fascination with how far people are willing to go for digital recognition. In an era where views, likes, and shares are often valued more than personal safety or integrity, Cee Redd’s story serves as a dark reflection of our society’s obsession with instant fame. His pursuit of virality becomes his undoing when he discovers that some stories are not meant to be told—especially when the dead are involved.
The legend of Darcy Collis, the vengeful bride who took brutal revenge on her cheating husband before ending her own life, is not merely a ghost story; it’s a tragic narrative of betrayal, rage, and unresolved pain. Her spirit haunts the Marble Apartments as a symbol of how violent emotions can linger long after death. In this film, Darcy is both a victim of her own madness and a powerful force of retribution, a figure whose fury transcends the grave.
The decision to set the story within the decaying grandeur of a haunted apartment complex was deliberate. The Marble Apartments—with its peeling wallpaper, flickering lights, and eerie silence—becomes a character in its own right, a place where the walls seem to breathe with the memories of past horrors. The atmosphere is meant to evoke a claustrophobic sense of dread, where every creak and shadow hints at unseen terrors.
Visually, "Darcy Collis" blends the intimacy of found-footage style with cinematic horror to immerse viewers in Cee Redd’s descent. His camera serves as both a witness and a trap, capturing moments that reveal the true cost of his ambition. The shifting perspectives—from confident arrogance to panicked fear—mirror his unraveling as he realizes too late that fame comes with a price.
Through this film, we aim to explore themes of pride, tragedy, and the thin veil between the living and the dead. "Darcy Collis" is a horror story about ambition turned fatal, about the past refusing to rest, and about the terrifying realization that some spirits will not be content to be ignored. We want audiences to feel the tension, the inevitability, and the fear that comes from stepping too far into the unknown—where the only certainty is that some doors should never be opened.
