Director Biography - Widya Arafah, Arjuna Asa

WIDYA ARAFAH is an Indonesian writer and director born in 2001. Her studies in Anthropology have sharpened her sensitivity in representing human experiences—especially in portraying how people nurture and grow. She has actively participated in various filmmaking programs, including alumna in FLY Film Incubator 2025 by Busan Film Commission. She was also a grantee of the Layar Indonesiana 2024 short film grant and mentorship program from the Indonesian Ministry of Education, received a short film grant from the Humanis Foundation, and presented a short film project at the Akatara Film Market 2024. Through these experiences, Her work has been recognized at festivals such as the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, ReelOzInd! Australia Indonesia Short Film Festival, Minikino Film Week, etc. Yet, Widya sees these achievements as the beginning of her journey towards becoming the Film Director she aspires to be.
