Daniel Frevert was born in November 3, 1974 in Cologne, Germany. He fluently speaks german, italian and english. At an early age he moved to Milan where he started studying visual comunications. Prior to that he directed in 1987 and at the age of 13 a stop motion short filmed in Super 8 involving puppets. After graduating he started little jobs in private TV broadcasters as a techinician. However his real ambition was independent filmmaking. He debuted with short film Protomorhosys (2002), a little horror flm, with Maurizio Quarta, a friend who co-directed, acted and created the makeup effects. Shot on Super 8 it is still considered a little splatter gem amongst fans. It won an award at the Alienante Film Festival in Milan for best special effects.
Inspired by classics like Alien, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, 2001, The Thing and many other science fiction and horror films Daniel decided to maintain old school techniques, making extensive use of miniatures and practical effects instead of CGI. Furthermore he is still fascinated by flm, like 8mm which he used for other 2 short flms, Titan Force (2016) and Space Entity (2018) presented in past editions at the Zed Fest Film Festival and awarded for outstanding Super 8 shorts.
