Experiencing Interruptions?

DU KANNST MICH MAL

In a cold, utilitarian bunker, five overworked household objects—a coffee machine, a sink, an alarm clock, and two lamps—struggle under the weight of their mundane existence, bound by the oppressive expectations of their baroque lady owner. Facing societal pressure and rigid hierarchies, they form an unlikely union to escape their grim reality. Together, they orchestrate a daring escape, seeking freedom in the world beyond the bunker’s confining walls. Accompanied by a haunting original score by Nathan Price and Margaux Suinat, this silent film tells a tale of rebellion, unity, and the quest for liberation.

Director Biography - Zoë Stach

Zoe Stach (b. 1998) is a German-American artist whose creative work spans product design, theater, and performance art. Raised between Köln, Tennessee, and Philadelphia, Zoe’s diverse background deeply influences her eclectic artistic voice. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York (2020), and completed her Master’s in Stage and Scenography at the Technische Universität in Berlin in 2024.

Zoe’s design work is characterized by a playful blend of humor, irony, and the grotesque, exploring deep-seated ideas with a lighthearted touch. She has worked as a Costume and Set Design Assistant at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and Oper Stuttgart, and in 2024, she designed costumes for the play "Liebe Macht Tod" in Strausberg. As a co-writer and performer in her debut production, "Birds" (2023) in Berlin, Zoe, alongside Falk Lörcher, examined the parallels between digital-age mating rituals and contemporary expressions of desire, questioning the performative nature of attraction in a tech-dystopian world, while also designing the costumes for the performance.

In addition to her design and directing work, Zoe is a drag performer known for her unique "grandma burlesque" acts, where she transforms into an old lady in a full-body latex suit, performing with a walker. These performances offer a humorous yet thought-provoking exploration of age, sexuality, and the unexpected, challenging norms while engaging audiences with exaggerated and imaginative acts. Zoe’s work is a celebration of contrasts—seriousness and play, reality and absurdity.
