DOWN BY THE WATER - MEÏA Santiago

Music Video directed by Clara Brotons
for the song "Down by the water"

This live version is going to be recorded for my upcoming album, “THE WOMEN I AM ”.
This is inspired by different female myths and archetypes. For “Down By The Water”, Persephone’s myth was the first song of the project I wanted to introduce. She's a vulnerable maiden who becomes a goddess of the Underworld. She raises every spring to bloom.
The stories of these women offers me the opportunity to embody other feminities that though maybe are not so close to mine, they also represent me. The aim of these songs is to embrace a femenine wholeness

Lyrics:

DOWN BY THE WATER

I was walking down the streets of the city all alone
With no other home than a suitcase full of dreams

Then you came to me
Like the saviors do
I believed in you
Like an oracle
But the myth revealed
What had been concealed
“For the maiden find her way
She has to learn to stay away
From her own doubts”
I’m a woman, hey

I went down by the water
I went down by the water of your love
But I didn’t stay too long
I went back to the meadow of the heart
Down by the water
Down, down, down by the water

Her name echoed in the air
He tried to lure her
Then the winter came
Blowing out the flame
But you can’t fight her strength
She’s the spring, she’s the seed
Of all things reborn she blooms
From her own wounds
I’m a woman, hey

I went down by the water
I went down by the water of your love
But I didn’t stay too long
I went back to the meadow of the heart
Down by the water
Down, down, down by the water
