DOLO

My first project originates from a casual conversation among friends, born out of a moment of introspection about my own life and the world around me. In a post-lockdown context, I felt the urgency to create something that not only challenged me artistically but also addressed fundamental issues of contemporary society.

Sexual abuse is a disturbing and alarming reality, a topic often avoided or silenced due to its uncomfortable nature. However, it is precisely because of this discomfort that I feel the need to bring it to the forefront. Confronting the idea that such abuses occur within our communities is daunting, but ignoring them is even more frightening.

More than just a cinematic project, I see this work as an awareness campaign. Through the story of "DOLO", I seek to explore themes such as gender equality, abuse of power, and the devastating consequences that sexual abuse can have not only for the victim but also for those around them. It is a narrative that challenges the viewer to confront their own responsibility in the face of injustice and violence.

This film would not be possible without the generous support and partnerships of various entities and organizations that share my vision and commitment to this cause. I thank Cascais Jovem, the Municipality of Cascais, the Parish Councils of Cascais and Estoril, Alcabideche, as well as my partners, including Own Studio, Teatro Experimental de Cascais, Ohana Eco Park, Polícia Judiciária, and APAV | Portuguese Association for Victim Support. It is through this collaboration that I can bring to life such an important and urgent narrative.

"DOLO" is more than just a film; it is a call to action. It is a reminder that by addressing difficult and uncomfortable topics, I am taking a step towards a more aware and empathetic society. I am ready to give voice to this story and hope that it resonates beyond the screen, inspiring real and lasting change.
